hlökk

HLÖKK: Three young women closely smiling for a selfie, in black and white.

Ingibjörg Ýr Skarphéðinsdóttir, Lilja María Ásmundsdóttir and Ragnheiður Erla Björnsdóttir met during their studies at Iceland University of the Arts. They formed the ensemble Hlökk in the year 2015 and started out by performing Icelandic folk songs, improvisations and their own compositions along with old poetry. Now the ensemble has developed into the art collective Hlökk where they use different types of art forms, mainly music, visual arts and creative writing, to create new compositions. Their audio-visual album, Hulduhljóð, received the Kraumur Awards in 2019. The album was also nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards as album of the year in open category.
